The International Cultural Panel

The Agency for Culture and Palaces is represented in The International Cultural Panel (ICP), established in 2010, as an extension of the Danish government’s strategy for strengthening the internationalization of Danish culture. ICP is a committed forum for cooperation comprised of the Danish Ministry for Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs as well as other Institutes under the Danish state.

ICP 2021

The Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foregin Affairs have initiated a dialogue to revise and focus the cooporation agreement between the Ministry of Foregin Affairs and the Ministry of Culture on Denmark's international culture exchange. Against this background, it is not possible for the steering group between the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foregin Affairs to take a position on a new strategic action plan until this proces has been completed. The goal is for a new cooporation agreement to enter into force during the spring of 2021.

The strategic action plan 2017-2020

The strategic action plan for 2017-2020 includes common, binding areas of effort for the international cultural exchange. The action plan aims to increase Danish cultural exchange abroad, and strengthen the internationalization of Danish culture. The international team within the Agency for Culture and Palaces works as the operator for decisions made by the ICP.

Aims

The International Cultural Panel will contribute to strengthening the connections between Denmark and the world around us, through exposure to other cultures and countries. Furthermore the International Cultural Panel will support the artistic and cultural exchange with relevant stories about Denmark and further reciprocal inspiration and cooperation between Danish and foreign actors on the cultural scene.

For the period of 2017-2020 the ICP has chosen to focus on three geographical areas:

  • Europe in the vicinity, Scandinavia, the Baltic Sea, Great Britain, France and Germany.
  • The United States
  • East Asia, China, Korea and Japan

ICP-funds

The steering committee under the cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs manages the financial prioritization of funds related to the cooperation agreement, under which ca. 4.5 million DKK is allocated the ICP’s action plan.
